May 2011
Sorry I didn't draw anything yesterday. It broke my combo. But I did two doodles today to make up for it.
First, a half-finished watercolor painting that may or may not get real finished since I already turned it into sort of a muddy mess. I sketched this out years ago for a friend who I've since lost contact with, decided I ought to work on it because, hey, why not.
And here are some ant jocks. Ants are team players but also kind of douchebags. Go Team Ant.
Reasonably satisfied with this design for a character named "Surreal Owl."
An aside: I am very sorry I haven't had a Sunday Movie Roundup in a while. I just haven't been seeing a lot of movies these last couple weeks. Hopefully in the next week I'll catch Bridesmaids and the new Pirates of the Caribbean picture (yeah, sorry, I'm contractually required to see most Johnny Depp films, even if they're not very good, by virtue of my eternal schoolgirl crush on the guy), so maybe I'll have some movies to round up next Sunday.
Dug out my old newsprint pad, did some quick charcoal sketches. Poor quality photos, sorry--had to take them on my phone. It's large newsprint and charcoal, not too scanner-friendly.
In the case of this latter sketch, I've actually already started the painting, but there was something wrong about it, so I set out to redraw it and sort of hammer things out. The sketch definitely is closer to what was in my mind's eye--better composition. Might have to do a major overhaul on the painting.
